Pepsi pulls ad after social media outrage

Pepsi has pulled an ad featuring Kendall Jenner a day after it debuted. “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace, and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.” Ooops!!

The ad, which has Jenner offering a policeman a Pepsi was shamed all over social media, but one has to ask why any marketing executive or agency thought this ad might succeed?

We are talking about a celebrity who was too busy to attend the women’s march because she was at a fashion show.   This ad was beyond bad and it clearly shows that marketers are out of touch with an angry public who is ready to pounce.
